Sedbergh School 3rd XI vs  Hymers College
On: Wednesday, 11 Sep 2019
Venue: Away

The 3rd XI continued their long march towards an unbeaten season, with a 7-1 victory over Hymers 2nd XI. Having lost Saturday’s goal scorers to the 2nds, there was an air of negativity around the squad as they took to the field. Under the new captaincy of Joelle Welsh, however, the girls quickly settled into their stride to lead 2-0 at half time. Rosie Bishop’s backstick finish was a particular highlight. The second half started with a steady stream of Sedbergh goals, with Robyn Johnson capping her already impressive performance at wing back with a goal. Sedbergh’s short corners were particularly impressive, with new routines working well. Charlotte Blenkin was solid as ever in defence and ably supported by an industrious Lucy Mason. As the game drew to a close, however, a now incandescent Hymers team managed to pull one back from a short corner. Frustrated by the loss of their clean sheet, the 3rds responded brilliantly to grab another and finish the game 7-1 to the good. JMD
